In the words of your Portland Oregon real estate photographer Wasim Muklashy:
Where do you start?
Yeah, we can roll with the Portlandia references and how ‘weird’ this city is, but, well…ok fiiiine, let’s roll with that.
Here’s the thing, for most people who live here, it’s not weird at all. It’s just ‘home.’ And ‘home’ is where everyone and everything is allowed to be who and what they are, with no judgements (well, most of the time at least…) on character, personality, eccentricity, or style.
If that’s ‘weird,’ then so be it.
Resting at the confluence of the Willamette and Columbia Rivers, Portland, Oregon is a major port in the Pacific Northwest. It rests in the Willamette Valley, covers about 150 square miles, and accommodates for a population of 3.1 million (metro), making it the 25th largest city in the United States. It is one of the country’s most walkable cities, and you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more bike-friendly city than Portland.
Perhaps the biggest draw to the region is its nature. Portland, and the Pacific Northwest is simply stunning. One one side, the city is bordered by Forest Park, one of the largest urban forests in the United States. You can literally walk from downtown Portland to a hiking trail within minutes. Forest Park stretches for almost 7 miles and includes almost 100 miles of trails for biking, hiking, walking, running, and simply forest ‘bathing.’ Waterfalls, rivers, streams, parks to your heart’s content.
On the other side, you have pristine views of 3 snow-capped mountains: Mt. Hood, Mt. Saint Helens, and Mount Adams, as well as the activities that come with it, from camping to backpacking to skiing, snowboarding, mountain biking, fishing and beyond.
And, last, but certainly not least, Portland, Oregon is the gateway to the crown jewel of the Pacific Northwest, the Columbia River Gorge.
Oh The Gorge!
The Gorge is a canyon that stretches for over 80 miles, covers almost 300,000 acres, is split by the Columbia River, which serves as the boundary between Washington State and Oregon. This federally protected National Scenic Area is home to some of the nation’s most incredible forests, rivers, waterfalls, forests, vineyards, plateaus, orchards, water-sports, camping, lakes, streams, farms, ranches, vistas and quaint towns with hand-crafted beer and farm-fresh diners guaranteed to satisfy your heart, soul, and stomach!
The Portland, Oregon area is serviced by 28 school districts across the Tri-Counties – Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington Counties.
